Hello people, I've posted before and got no replies. Does the timing chain have to be replacing on an 02 v6---ever?! Some say chains don't break... some say they do.... any advice?!

just depends...some times they do but thats if they go out.....

so as far as Ford's concerned--- its "life-time" great--- just like those "life time" fluids. I wonder how much it costs to have it changed.

not on an explorer but a dodge van, my serpentine belt snapped off and with it, the belt tensioner broke off as well when it did. the force of the belt popping off tore it right off. i was living in Arizona and you have to check your belts there for dried out cracks all the time. i was told if you see line cracks on your belt, you might want to consider changing it soon. i living in Florida now but still check them out often. i would especially when it hit 70-90,000 miles if not sooner. i cant remember what the owners manual says when.

If we get a noisy one in at the shop, we automatically put in a new chain as well as the suspect guides and tensioners. For a lot vehicle, we may not, but customer vehicles get one. Just one less possible comeback this way.
