Hi all, I had my tranny completely overhauled about a month ago. I've noticed since then my tranny, makes a loud "clunk" sound. If I go from P to D, nothing. But if I go from D to R, there is a noticable "clunck", same if I go R to D. (this is done with the brakes on.)

It'll also make a "clunck" when I'm driving. If I start to drive then let off the gas, as soon as the truck shifts into the next gear, it'll "clunck"

I just got back from the shop that did my tranny and they spent almost 5 hrs testing line pressure, etc. he said everything is in spec, he can't find anything wrong with the new tranny.

My queston is, if the tranny if fine, then could this be a Slip Yoke problem? From my searches it seems to be. But I never noticed it before my tranny overhaul.

Thanks.

Slip yoke clunking occurs when stopping, not when changing from park to reverse.I would definitely bring it back to whoever serviced your transmission.

Actually it sound more like a bad u-joint, might wanna check thoes out

Thanks guys, so how do you check u-Joints? Just grab them and move them around? Look for play of some kind?

Mod, please move this to the proper forum (Driveline)

Thanks:)
