I have a question for you 4.0 V6 Owners. When I start out from a stop and hit the gas pedal and then quickly release and hit it again my X goes into a kind of surge that is like a bucking motion. If I continue to hit the peadal and release it will die. Is this normal???

Not normal no, is the check engine light on?

How many miles, and also is this a stick or auto?

If it's an auto, it may be just the tranny getting "lost" between shifts/TC engagement as the TPS signal changes wildly.

v6,4.0, auto, '96, 100k+ miles, no major repairs on it -here and mine dosen't do that.

So when you go on and off the gas really fast it surges? Go figure, you are surging the gas pedal. Sounds to me like you are doing toe taps.....yea, sooner or later if you bounce it hard enough it will die. If you hit a wall it will dent, too :D
