I have a 2003 Explorer with the 4.0L SOHC engine that I have been trying to troubleshoot a preplexing problem. The door ajar issue. I have read through many posts on this site regarding the fix; spray - soak the mechanism with WD-40 and close hard several times. I have tried this on all 4 doors, the rear gate and glass door no difference (note the rear gate has only one switch on the middle latch mechanism, another post suggested that there may be 2 - one on each side)
In a trouble shooting effort I have driven until the door ajar light goes out and then withthe help of my son tried each one of the 6 doors; each one reports a open door when opened. From my basic understanding of the problem this would suggest that the door switches are working.
Besides the door switches what else can cause the door ajar issue? Are there any other sensors that could be at fault in an 03??
Thanks in advance
Joe
