Door Ajar

Last year I load the back of my Explorer with a ridiculous number of 2X4s., of course the boards were hanging out the back and so we just tied the gate down. Ever since then my Door Ajar light as been on. I have tried pulling fuses, I have sprayed WD40 on everything that looks like a latch. I have checked the other doors, but the back windshield wiper stopped working at the same time, so thinking it is the back gate. Does any one have any ideas?

you sure its closing correctly?(all the way) other than that i would look into the latch and manual close the latch on both sides

Check and make sure the glass hatch is closed all the way... The rear wiper not working is one of the things that will happen if the glass hatch is ajar.

Yes, I have ensured both the hatch & glass are closing. I assume they are closing fairly well as I never have any leakage when there are heavy rains.
