I'm looking to replace my two rear door armrests on my 92 XLT. They are the ones with the ashtrays in them, the plastic tabs that you bolt into are broken and missing, anyone know where I can get replacements?

You'd probably have to get them from a Ford dealer I would guess. If you are good with wood I made new ones out of Walnut wood using the old ones as a pattern. Or you could get door panels from a newer Explorer, they redesigned the door handles and they are stronger.

So I could get newer panels out of, lets say a 95 or so and they will fit? Interesting... Oh, and I've been wondering this for a long while. I know that GM has a direct parts ordering website (www.gmpartsdirect.com) where you can enter the part number and get the part at almost wholesale prices. Does Ford have any online sites like this? If so, I can just look up the part number and get it online. Thanks in advance!

I think panels from a newer explorer like a '95 will fit the rear doors. I'm not positive though. Hopefully someone else will chime in. I've heard the front doors are different though. For parts there is http://www.fordpartsnetwork.com/
