When I open the driver side door the chime sounds off. That is with no 'key in ignition' or no 'headlights on'. When I put the key in the ignition nothing changes. When I start the car with the door open the chime slows down.

I have placed this on a couple other forums and have had no response. I have a couple questions about how the chime works.

What controls the chime? Is it the computer? If I was to replace the computer would that possibly fix it?

Or, I know that there is a procedure to turn the chime off for the seat belt not buckled. Are there any other procedures for the 'key in ignition' or 'headlights on'?

I have seen loose wires at the ignition switch ( key ) cause this problem.

Its also possible that the GEM module is faulty.

Good luck .......

I was about to say, mine does the same. Lock the steering wheel and it stops :)
