99 mounty 4.0. I have had this issue for quite some time. When im cleaning my mountaineer, it gets on my nerves when i have to have the door open and the damn thing chimes away even with the keys removed from ignition. Anyone no where to start looking or what wires to look for in the column

check to make sure your lights are all the way off... my door dinger yells at me if i open my door while the keys are in the ignition or if i have my lights on... other than that, i'm not sure where to look... my bmw one went off every time i had the door sitting open with the keys out, so i looked up which fuse controlled it and there was nothing else attached to it... so i popped that fuse.

i never locked the doors on that thing though so i would only recommend pulling the fuse if you're REALLY good about remembering to take your keys out of the car before you close and lock doors.

shoot a small amount of wd-40 in the ignition, I bet the switch is stuck

yeah, my light switch is always off becuase i have auto lights. Ill try the wd40 trick
thanks dudes

you might have to ram the key in and out to get the wd-40 in the switch

if you add more let the previous amount dry, remember WD-40 is not an oil, it is a water displacer and it cleans and TEMPORARILY lubricates.

Mine does that too, here's the culprit:

This green thing senses if the key is in the ignition
