I've turned to you guys because the technicians at the repair shop my car was taken to are clueless. Back in January someone backed into my driver door. The car was taken to a collision repair shop and repaired, they replaced the outside door handle and door lock because the door would open unexpectedly while driving. When I first got the car back, a clicking noise appeared whenever I lifted the outside door handle. The noise went away soon and I forgot to tell the shop when I took the car back in for other reasons. Now the noise has returned, I took it in just this week and they found no problems with the outside door handle itself but lubed it up or something and of course the noise went away. Then I got home and the noise came back. This is the pattern of the noise, it will go away and then come back. Does anyone have any idea as to what the problem is? It is a loud clicking noise only when I lift the outside handle up on the driver's door, I have no problems with the interior handle..yet. I just wanna know so I can tell them and avoid having to go back..for the 5th time I believe.
Also, I have had this loud squeaking noise occur when I have started my car up in cold weather. The noise lasts for a few minutes then goes away. But it is extremely annoying and worrisome, I had a shop look at it and they found nothing wrong. I'm thinking it's a belt. But this noise has been going on since last winter, and only during the winter. I have also started to hear another lower pitched squeaking/squealing noise whenever the car is at a stop in warm or cold weather. It just happened today in 55 degree weather while stuck in highway traffic. This noise just started a few weeks ago. If anyone can help identify these noises I'd really appreciate it.
Thanks!
