How to: Door Lock Actuator Write-Up

Prefix for threads which are instructional.
You can just use a big flathead screwdriver or hammer claw or wonder bar to pull the interior of the door off.

So....I am sick of playing with springs and zip ties to help my old lock actuators and am replacing them.

I ordered one from Rock Auto, put it in with no problems, worked great for two cycles then it stopped working. I looked at it and noticed the hook had detached from the rest of the lock actuator, I reattach and tried again but got the same results. I returned the part thinking it was defective. I got another one and same thing, the hook keeps detaching, does anyone know any tricks to keeping the hook attached?

thanks

I know this an old thread but I'm posting for documenting purposes. I had the same problem with one of my doors. The lock actuator was the likely problem. When I started to detach the old one I noticed that the female plug on the bottom of the actuator had nothing connected to it. After some searching I found the male plug from the wiring tucked down in the corner of the door way out of sight. Some how the clips holding the plug in place had snapped off (guess who the last person to work on that door was...the dealership hmm :hammer:.) Just added some epoxy to the side of the male plug and pushed it back in. Good as new:thumbsup:
