Remote locks on my 02 explorer quit working. works fine manually. It is not the batteries in remote! When you start the vehicle the doors always locked automatically, but not now. any ideas out there?

Welcome aboard!! :salute:

Could you please provide some more information?

  • Does the key fob work?
  • Do the switches on the doors work?
  • Did you do any work on the truck recently?
  • Did it all work before this issue?

If you post some more info we can move forward and hopefully get you fixed up.

switches on doors work manually. no work done on vehicle. problem started all at once

Your reply it still a bit confusing. When you say "manually" do you mean you have to flip EVERY door lock one by one manually OR do they all lock at once when you press the electronic switch on the door?

I have half your problem.

My doors will not lock electronically. If I press the lock button on the keyfob OR if I hit the lock switch button on the door, I get nothing. I have to manually flip each door lock.

They will unlock though if I press the keyfob or door switch button.

When I press the lock button, I can hear a solenoid of sorts clicking on/off in the back passenger side of my SUV roughly where the PATS unit is located.

Dealer says its the PATS unit but I can hear the relay clicking so I'm guessing a wire and that the signal is not making it to the locking mech.

I've been trying to figure it out for almost 3 years, I gave up.

They will all work off of the button on drivers door. no sound at all when pushing buttons on fob. and they use to lock automatically when I started the car.

I can post up some good info tonight when I get home.

still having remote trouble.

Remote lock and unlock still will not work on 02 explorer. Have checked fuses and had fob's checked. Can anyone tell me where the terminal is that receives the message from the fobs ?? Locks work fine manually. My Ford mechanic does not have a clue. Help!!

I have had 2 Fords in the past that the FOBs had to be reprogrammed to the vehicle. Batteries didn't die, no work done and no issues found. They just simply needed to be reprogrammed.

Did you perform the troubleshooting steps outlined in the link I posted? :dunno:
