Door locks wont lock, but will unlock

Ok, i have a 96 XLT with the 5.0...

the truck has 180,000 miles on it, and it is 13 years old, so that might have something to do with it..

my problem is I cant lock the doors with the switch in either the driver or passenger side door lock switch.. but the switch in the back of the truck still works for lock or unlock.. even weirder the door switches will still unlock.

the truck doesnt even lock itself when you begin to move anymore.

to make matters worse.. theres a key broken off in my hatch, my passenger door lock cylinder has been "frozen" for about 2 years now, and wont unlock with a key, and now the drivers side one is acting up when its cold out.. i also dont have a key fob, or know the code for the keyless entry or if it even works..

if anyone has any suggestions they would be much appreciated...

on a good note even with 180,000 it still runs like the day we bought it!

According to my owners manual the code is taped to the computer module. As for your autolock issue maybe you accidentally deactivated it.

lots of posts... you likely have a broken wire in the left rear passenger side cable raceway.

Nevermind i found it... looked through some archives and found the splice where the 3 wires splice into 1 right by the base of the dogleg or under the rear seat on the drivers side... i cut the splice open and the wires basically fell out, i looked into the shrink wrap and all that was left of the wires was green dust... spliced them all together and power locks again!!

also i found the post on where to find the door code, i fixed my exterior locks and tomorrow im going to get new batteries for my old key fob and re-program it... its been a good day for my explorer.. thanks for your help guys!
