So my lights and door ajar light have been on the fritz. I pulled the boot off and found that the black ground wire was broken. I fixed that but then saw that another wire was broken. It was red with a black stripe. Does anyone know what this wire is for? I tried finding a diagram with no luck. Any help would be appreciated.

Year and model. And which door?

But if the wires broke just fix it, right?

2002 Explorer XLS. It's the harness in the front driver's door. That's the issue, i fixed the wire but have no idea what it was for.

Fix the wires and forget about it. No trouble is good, right?

Red/Black wire in driver door harness is for right rear window switch.

Takes power from the driver switch to the switch in the right rear door.

Appreciate the help. Couldn't find that anywhere and didn't feel like ordering the diagram

the door ajar may not be a broken wire ..it is a stuck switch in the latch of one of your doors..spray all the door latches one at a time with wd40 and open and close the door you sprayed 4/5 times check light, move on to the next door. worked on 2 of my mountaineers

It was a broken ground. Once i fixed it, the door ajar light stayed off and the dome light also. I sprayed them before i started tearing things apart with no luck.
