I have a 91 Explorer who's dricer side door won't close right unless I slam it.

I'm a complete novice when it comes to automotive repairs of any kind and am wondering if I can fix it myself.

Thanks for any help

It is common for the door hinge to wear out if you fail to lubricate it (2x year).. With the door fully opened try and lift it. Normally the entire car will start to lift if the hinge is good. If the hinge is worn you'll be able to lift the door slightly before the car starts to lift.

Thanx

Sweeeet! Thanks for your help.

Door Hinge pin replacement kit

You might check with "Brett" on the board. He sells Hinge replacement kits for Explorers, Rangers and F150s. I have installed the kits on two different explorers a two door and a four door...and they work great.

Wouldn't it probably be just the pin's and not the whole hinge though?

Yep...just the pins...

Yes, the kit is made up of pins and the bushings...pretty cheap fix and works well. It does not take too long. It does require removing the door and the wiring connection behind the kick pannel to install the pin.
