door wont open with key!

ok so i peeked around and noticed there is one rod that is loose. it has a couple bends on it, and connects to the part of the door lock that moves. the door lock im speaking of is the one you stick your key into on the outside. but this rod is on the inside. anywayyyy... i try to connect the rod on the middle bend to the door lock, and it will work to lock the door, but once you try to unlock the rod pops out after encountering alot of hesitation.

i cant lock my doors. this is bad. and i dont have keyless. argh!

Same problem. Tried lube, read up on the "spring issue" my sping is attached... anyone have any insite?

99 sport, and the door will open and lock and unlock - just not with the physical key.

Same problem with my 98 sport. Passenger side i cant get in at all and drivers side gives me problems sometimes.

mine does the same thing, i have to give it a little love tap next to the lock as im turning the key and it pops right open... it works for now till i get some time to open it up to see what's really going on.

the springs on the explorers tend to break I have a 99 sport spring broke on drivers side door causing the rod to shift down this binds up the key lock and causes the door to open hard even with the handle you need to reattach a spring to raise the rod so that everything is free to move this is not an easy task as it's dark and a small area to work with
