I noticed a few months ago that when it rains my doors get full of water and the headliner is getting soaked near the back window. Now my dome lights are working only when they want to and I'm thinking it's causing a short because twice now the truck hasn't started. Just makes the clicking sound. My battery (which is still the factory installed one:D) is checking out good. I have a 2004 Ford Ranger. I'm thinking of tearing the doors down and starting there. If anyone knows how to do this I would appreciate some advice. I have also taken the plugs out of the bottom of the doors so the water can escape. There has been no damage to my vehicle and the door seals all look fine. I did lock my keys in a couple times (I'm a girl:rolleyes:) and the locksmith used a "bladder" to get in. Thanks for any info!!! (I have no electric windows or locks)

The soaked headliner is often caused by a leak at the Center High Mount Stop Lamp.

Thanks! I will look into that. I was hoping to work on the truck this weekend but we've got below zero temps here and I don't want any plastic to break on me. Truck wouldn't start today....had it plugged in....started with a jump. Getting so frustrated. Wish I would've put more thought into the dome lights not working before it got so cold.

I'll second it most likely being that 3rd brake light. I have taken mine off multiple times to run antenna cable for my XM and cell phone booster, and each time I put it back on I have to use "Goop" (a sealant), or a liquid gasket, and then once I have it tightened on, use more to run a "bead" around the outside - I usually have to do that, and wait a few days for it to dry pretty well, then do one more "bead" around the outside, and that seals it up good. I've also had to put some sealant on the corners of my rear window gasket, because it seemed like it was separating a bit. I always make sure I have a wet rag nearby to clean up any excess sealant - that stuff is messy!

Thank you...I checked and as it turned out that brake light is not working! I pulled the fuse for my brakes and now the truck is starting. So it must be shorting out somewhere. I will check into it as soon as we get some warmer weather. Now my battery is overcharging....I had to start a new thread for this one. I hope the truck doesn't start causing me troubles...I love it and wouldn't want to get rid of it.
