well, I installed my new Dorman power board in my 2000 Explorer Mach radio and still have no display. this I the second time this has happened to me. i'm chatting with Dorman tech support and so far they're telling me that these boards will not work with radios with the 6-Disc CD changers (only single CD units). is this true?

Application Notes:

AM/FM/Cass/Single CD Cont; ID No. 3L5T-18C868-AA thru AC; Premium Sound

my radio's part number is XL2F-18C868-CA. Dorman has told me their board will not work in this radio. crap! I guess i'll need to send it out for repair (and no, I don't want to install an after market head unit).

Just wondering if you fixed this? I have the same problem and it appears the dorman part did not fix mine either. I too have the 6 disc changer in the console.

Correct. As stated I spoke to Dorman tech support and they said their board will not work in the Mach radio w/the 6 disc CD changer. My only option was to send the radio off to have it repaired for $100 (plus shipping both ways) or send the guy $20 for instructions on how to repair it myself. I just replaced the radio with a OE non-Mach radio. It works the CD changer and works with the steering wheel mounted controls, but not the factory AMP/woofer. That was good enough for me.

How difficult is the install of one of these boards?

If you're used to doing this sort of thing, taking electro-mechanical objects apart, it's not too bad, takes about 15 minutes to disassemble and reassemble if that.
