I have an 02 Sport and was curious if a double DIN would fit without any modifications to the dash. I have the premium sound package with the six disk changer and factory sub. Crutchfield says I need to modify my dash and I
will not be able to use stock again.

The radio is a Kenwood DPX308U. I made a template to the dimensions of this radio and it is about 1/4"-1/2" bigger than the stock radio. What would I have to do?

you'll most likely have to trim the lip around the radio opening. just the top and bottom.
i just installed my radio last night but i have a 96 it may be a little different than yours.
I'll see if i can find the kit installation instructions later for you.

I put in a double JVC KW-NT3HD into my '02 Sport a couple of months ago,

Yes, you have to trim the upper and lower lip off.

Will check for the model number of the kit I used. It took some futzing and dremeling but looks great.

how to you know how much to trim off without screwing it up? haha

For my install I trimmed the upper and lower lips flush.

Wow. I really like how that head unit looks. Too bad it doesnt have bluetooth.

no bluetooth = deal killer for me.

yeah I like it's style for being a non touch screen. Still maybe considering
one of those too if the price is right. Do you need a special harness
for the premium sound X's?
