Ok I've done tons of research here and really want to thank BrooklynBay, Glacier, and Brain. You guys have taken the time to post gobs of info for everyone and brought the transmission into the DIY realm.
Now here's the back story. I broke the intermediate band in my 4r55e transmission. I ended up getting my buddy's old 5r55e out of his 99. He replaced his because it wasn't downshifting when he came to a stop. After doing some research here, I thought this could be something I could take on myself. I assumed its was probably just a solenoid, but with it out of the truck, I couldn't pull the codes. So I adjusted the bands, swapped all the solenoids and the gear selector sensor from my transmission into his, replaced the filter, and retorqued the VB bolts. Installed it, but didn't have the torque converter seated all the way so I had to pull it back out. And without knowing if I damaged the pump, I swapped my bellhousing and pump over from mine (which I had to swap the bell anyway because of the starter pocket). Then reinstalled it and filled it with Mercon V.
Now I can drive it, but it won't up shift on its own. Reverse works fine, I can manually shift it to 2nd, and then to drive. But it it won't up shift to 2nd on its own, or 3rd once I put it in 2nd. And if I come to a stop, it will downshift to 1st on its own. The only code I pulled was P1701, Reverse Engagement Error.
Any insight would be greatly appreciated.
