Heres what the dealer said:
Dealer called and said yes you have trans problems but it should be covered under warranty. They also said that they found an upper control arm and lower ball joints bad for the stearing and they would fix that too. But, they said that a computer code shows a bad DPF sensor ? and that is $160 to fix. The more I thought about it, that probably happened when you got water in the exhaust. I'm going to decline that repair. I wan't to get away with just the $100 charge toward the deductible on the ext warranty policy. Sorry for the long message. Just wanted to pass this along. You might want to ask on the board about the DPFE sensor.

Any reccomendations on what i should do?

If anyone is reading this, i flooded my ride awhile back and most of the fluids werent changed til recently, the trans got fried on the way back i believe, and thats why i think it caused problems. I had to head back to school and my dad drove the transmission back. Anyways, looks like i made bank off this warranty. ~$1500 for the transmission and ~400 for the joints. Anybody know what the sensor is? Oh well, im still very relieved Fords gonna do this work. Whoa yah.

The DPFE sensor (Differential Feedback Pressure Sensor) is part of the Exhaust Gas Recirculation System. Replacement is just a plugin job so it's easy. Just make sure you put it all back as you took it out (two vacuum pipes and one electrical conector). Location on driver side mounted on rocker cover near the EGR valve and dipstick. Hope this helps:D

Awesome, how much that part run? Ford wanted $160

Sorry I've no idea of the cost in the USA as I'm from UK. But check our sponsers Fordpartsonline.com and others.:)

Yes, definately Check with torrie at Ford Parts Network. They usually have good prices for replacement parts.
The DPFE sensor is something that even you could change yourself with ease..... :)

Good Luck
Al

According to Stephen S, you can get it for $55 from Ford Parts Network.

Torry says 58+7 to ship so like another 60, oh well

Don' t forget to check the obvious....I almost replaced mine till I found a crack in one of the hoses.
It was in the back..out of sight

what hose exactly

Bringing this back up, my truck was at ford today for bad wheel bearings, and they said the DPFE sensor is causing my rough idle on startups, is this a possible result of the DPFE failure?

I suppose it could cause it. When a DPFE goes completely bad it will set a DPFE Failure code. Don't let them replace it though. You can do it yourself in about 10 minutes and save the labor charge.

That sounds kind of fishy to me. Is it causing a vacuum leak? That would cause rough idle.

I can't see how the failure of the sensor would cause the rough idle because it just compares the pressure on either side of the EGR to determine flow through the EGR valve. The EGR should be closed at idle, so there should be no flow at all.
