I just went out and looked at the rear diff drainplug on my '03 Mountaineer; it's 3/4" square drive, female. If you already have a 1/2"-drive ratchet or breaker bar, go to Sears and buy one of these. If you don't have a 1/2"-drive ratchet or breaker bar, buy one of those as well.

You can also find that same adaptor at Harbor Freight, if you have a store near you. Probably be a couple bucks cheaper than Sears. I think HF has a whole set of step-up and step-down adapters, covering from 1/4" to 3/4" drive, for around $20.

I was at autozone today and found the adapter. But when i went to drain and fill it back, i noticed it was leaking:(. So im back to autozone for a new oil seal. The repairs never end on this car!

Drain Plug

I just did mine last satureday, I did use RTV on the threads.
I bought a adpter kit at harborfreight for $10 bux, has all sizes up to 1 " .
Funny thing the front differential does not have a drain plug.
My F150 is the other way around, the front one does, the rear one does not.
Weird.
