'01,'02, '04 Sport Tracs,
After driving all over the area Wed, I realized my '02 Sport Trac needs a fuel pump and filter ASAP. I started by pulling the fuse for the fuel pump and cranking the engine to relieve the pressure. Of course, there's roughly 12 gallons of gas in the tank. I can't get a siphon tube thru the filler hose, so I'm trying to pull the fill hose off the (plastic) tank. Tank is still in place in the truck. I cut the clamp off, and can twist the hose, but can't get it off the neck on the tank. There's quite a ridge there. Any tips or tricks to draining the tank would be appreciated.

I lowered the tank with the gas in it. Went reasonably well. The rear strap doesn't fit between the tank and the driveshaft, but will wiggle out of the frame and can come off so the tank will lower. The fill hose assembly got hung up, but that and the weight of the gas in the tank helped me get the hose off the tank. And yes, there is a screen in the neck of the tank that prevents a siphon hose from going in.
