Dreaded Transmission Questions...

Ok. SO, My 2004 Explorer needs a transmission. From everything I read I need a 5R55S. My question is this, Will any 5R55S work? I bought one that came out of an 02. Checked the tag on the 02 and it is 2L2P-BA...which is definitely the S model not the W. I know my door sticker has a V in the code for the transmission but I forgot to look at the tag on the tranny itself and it is at my parents 30 minutes away. Any information would be greatly appreciated! Hoping to get it put in this weekend!

I just replaced the solenoid pack in mine last month. I can say for certain that the V on your door sticker means it's a 5R55S. To the best of my knowledge, 02 thru 10 are the same.

I just swapped a 5r55s from an 02 into an 05 without an issue. The tags on the transmissions were different but both vehicles had the v on the door
