Drip sound inside vehicle on passenger side?

Everytime I drive my vehicle, I hear some sort of dripping sound coming from the passenger side. It doesn't seem like a/c fluid is leaking or dash wiring harness would be gone by now. I could be wrong those, I am just wondering what this might be, before I take my vehicle to firestone, then I can tell them the part to replace.

No responses so far, but I don't think that it is worth taking in to have serviced if there is nothing other than a dripping sound going on and no indication that it is serious. It could just be condensation dripping off of the coils in the HVAC blower box on the passenger side, but I have never heard it physically dripping before. Is this with the engine on or off and is the drip high pitched or low?

Do you have discharge from the drain tube when running the a/c?

I hope that it is a dripping noise (low pitch) and not a ticking noise (high pitch). If it is a ticking noise then it is coming from the engine since you are saying that it does it running and not off.

Its definitely not coming from the engine, because its inside the car. The drip sound is intermittent, like every 7 seconds, its like water when dripping from house gutter to ground. Can you explain to me what you mean by low pitch and high pitch...I am worried now. Thanks

I have a similar sound on my '04 V8, but I only hear mine after the engine is shut off and it's below about 40 degrees outside. I've had the truck for about 5 years and it's done this ever since I had it.

The scenario is - drive at least a few miles in cool weather, then shut it off and wait. Then the noise starts - drip-drip-drip, from the passenger side. I tried unplugging the low-limit switch so that the AC can't run (it is set up to run the AC compressor in defrost with the heat on), and it still makes the noise. If I am parked so that the truck has the wind blowing on it, the drip-drip noise is faster. There's no water or other fluid dripping anywhere and the noise goes away after 5 or 10 minutes.

I believe that the noise is probably some part of the exhaust system cooling down and nothing to worry about.

does the vehicle sit outside? may have your drains clogged. blow out your exterior vents and drains under the cowl and what not. if you have a sunroof clean those drains out too. happens all the time when drains are clogged with debris.

Can you explain to me what you mean by low pitch and high pitch...I am worried now. Thanks

High pitch would be like the sound the engine makes when it is very hot and has just been turned off and is cooling back down (the tick sound the exhaust etc. makes as it cools and the metal slowly contracts back). Low pitch would be like the sound a drop of water makes on a standing puddle of water or the sound of something tapping on a piece of hollow low grade plastic.

I had the same thing on my 07 4x4 it turns out there is a little one way check valve under the dash that was causing mine. I had it replaced under warranty a few years ago. It has started doing it again when it gets bad enough I will take the dash apart and figure out what it is and what it does. It sits under the passenger side dash pad nearer to the radio stack on mine. I wish I could find the paper work to let you know what the called it.
