hey ya'll,
I own a 1992 X,
I am wondering what Gear I should drive in,
Drive or Overdrive?
Is there any advantage of one over the other??
Whats the difference between the two?
thanks,
~ryan

I forgot to add that just for everyday normal Highway driving, which one would be better to use?

Overdrive. When you are in drive the rpms will stay higher even when you are just cruising. When you are in overdrive the rpms will drop because it goes into another gear. Drive is used primarily for towing and steep hills

Turn the overdrive off while driving aorund town, dont shift as much, less work for the tranny. Turn it back on when you are out of town or going at higher speeds with less stopping. Thats what dealers always tell us.

I bought my Ex while I was living in Amarillo TX where every road is long, wide, and flat. That was on OD situation all the way. It's not unusual to cruise at 60 on most roads around there.

Now I live in Colorado Springs where the roads are hilly and never straight. Here I can tell right away if I've put it in OD instead of drive. It shifts too much, shifts hard, and generally complains a lot. For the highway, I still us OD, but in town, I just can't.
