Drive shaft help please ASAP

So my dumb ass took the rear drive shaft down for a repair. I drew and arrow on it to remember how to put it back in but its been a while and I don't know if my arrow points to the front or the rear.

What direction does this thing go in? It has a smooth shaft a rubber extension and then an area that looks like splines. What is the front and what is the back?

Last part and my repair is complete. Anyone please?

On a 2ng gen, the boot goes toward the forward side.

But I really don't think it matters. When I had my driveshaft rebuilt, the guy told me to install the other way because the spline section is smaller which is better for 4wheeling.
