I am planning a transmission swap in my '70 Mustang which requires cutting 1" from my driveshaft. My drive shaft is a steel 51" shaft. So, what I need is a 50" shaft and I would like to have an alum shaft.

My question is: Is a stock driveshaft from an Explorer (or Expedition) a 50" alum (it would most likely be from a 2x4 as the shaft in my 4x4 Expedition is way too short)? If so, is the U joint coupling different?

Thank you in advance for your help!:salute:

Are you looking for 1330 or 1310's? I've got some brand new OEM alum shafts for 125.00..

What I'm looking for is an alum drive shaft that is 50" from u-joint to u-joint. I'm not sure about numbers. I also don't know what the difference would be between a 9" rear and an Explorer rear in terms of u-joint connections.
