Driver door handle will not open lock stuck up.

Hello,

My 2001 Explorer Sport Trac driver's side door will not open. Searched around but couldn't find this exact issue.

Door handle tension has been getting weak over last few days. It will not pull enough to unlatch anymore.
Electronic/fob will not work for driver door but will work for all 3 others.
Door will open from inside.
Door lock pole is now stuck in up/open position but door is locked and pole cannot even forcefully get pushed down.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Is it possible that the door is actually stuck in the locked position. Opening from inside may still be possible. Even though the lock stem may be in the upright position, the door lock mechanism may be in a locked state. Good that you can still open the door from inside. You may need to change the door lock mechanism.
