1)Driver door does not lock/unlock with button.

2)Interior light stay on when door closed, engine running or not.

3)Door ajar light never comes on,no matter what door is open.

Could these problems be related?

THanks guys

I tested the doors with the key in the on position and the only door that doesn't beep when open is the rear driver side door.

Would it be possible that the door ajar light is blown,

the rear door sensor is bad,

and my driver door Lock Actuator is bad?

Thanks for the help guys.:)

After more investigation, My 2000 XLT does not have a driver door power lock actuator, but has the wiring for it in the door.

I tested it and it does show power with the (un)lock button. So I assume that I have no broken wires in the boot.

Is it impossible to add power locks to my driver door?

I found my door light issue. I simply unplugged the rear driver side door sensor and the lights go off as normal.

This is very much a one-way conversation isn't it?

The door ajar sensor isn't too hard to replace, i'd say its probably blown or broken, mine was broken in 2 pieces when I bought it. There are a few write-ups on here if you do need to do that.

If you have the wiring for the door lock actuator, I'd say you should be able to put it in, especially if the rest of the car has power locks. It was probably just a simple fix for whoever had it before you.

lol more like a blog.

Would I need a certain year actuator? Or would I need a whole new latch also?

I was at the yard and seen some trucks had some type of rivet where the bolt would go thru the door to hold the actuator.

Thanks for the help 88

If you have power locks on the other doors and wiring in the drivers, then someone removed the actuator. The latch is separate from the actuator.

Any model of second gen explorer/mountaineer or ranger pickup 95-01 will be exact fit. Both front actuators are the same on left and right so either door will get what you need.

Yes the assembly is generally held in place with a rivet and washer, but can replace with a single short bolt, nut and lock washer if you lack a rivet gun (though its want a very useful tool for $10). Drilling out a rivet take less than a minute, or you can hammer & punch it. For simple comparison, you can look at your passenger door to see how its all hooked up.

If you don't want to pull one yourself search the site to find someone parting out. Only use an oem or the system may not work correctly. I have encountered weird power lock operation after trying a cheap universal type. Also, the oem has the correct plug and shape/length op rod.
