Today for first time driver window slow to roll down. Strange thing, it is so slow almost stops until gets half way down where resumes normal operation. Looks like it is on track. No problem for window to go up fast from open to fully close but now each time I try to lower it, acts like it does not want to work until it is about half way down. Any suggestions on what might be issue? Thanks

get yourself a can of Liquid Wrench spray silicon. put the little red straw it comes with on the nozzle and with the window all the way down, spray the window channels well. especially the rear channel. you may need to do this occasionally to keep the window running smoothly, but I find it works really well. with age and wear this tends to happen. if you don't do this you'll probably need to replace the window regulator and/or the window motor (expensive and not fun).

Thank you very much. Will give it a try. Thought about it but would not try without your recommendation. Appreciate it greatly.

You are a Genius. Just got back from buying product you recommended at Lowes and tried it. Worked like a charm. Window now works as good as new. Wish I could buy you a case. THANKS SO MUCH!

you're very welcome. I currently have two trucks that have this problem. if you ignore it and force the window it will bend up the regulator like a pretzel. I just dealt with this yesterday on my daughters AWD 2000 Mountaineer. I was able to straighten out the regulator and lubed it up. so far so good, but I may need to replace the regulator if it gets jammed up again. hers began acting just like yours about a year ago. I told her what to do, but she chose to ignore my suggestion. my latest acquisition (a 2000 Explorer) was beginning to hang up the driver's window when going down. WD40 worked for 2 days. the silicon spray has been working like new for 2 weeks now.

i'll see how long it will go w/out a reapplication, but the nice thing about silicon is that water will not wash it off, so i'm hoping for at least a few months. 6 months would be great.

This solved my problem as well... just shot silicone grease into the channel heavy and let it run down into the tracks until it was dripping a bit from the bottom of the door. Working good as new.

Update: It's been about 4 months since I siliconed the driver's window channels on both my problem trucks and the windows are still working like new.

Thanks for the reminder. My 2000 is doing that on the drivers window at the very top but I put it on the back burner with all the other issues I am dealing with on it.

It will be nice to be able to make a small step forward and keep progress on track. :salute:

noob question here: Do I need to take the door panel off to spray, or just spray where the window comes up out of the door?

My 79 Bronco tailgate glass did this and I would do the same thing, shoot some lube on the glass run for over a decade.

I finally bought new glass run and it works like new. My theory is the felt gets worn off and the rubber drags on the glass slowing it down in certain spots.

I should of just bought new run right away and save years of wasted lube.
