I have a 2012 Limited with the 12-way heated/cooled driver seat. Every day I play with the settings, and I just can't get comfortable. The biggest problem (for me) is that the seat does not get flat enough. The front of the seat is always too high. I'm to the point now of looking at adding spacers under the rear mounting bolts. BTW - I am a 40-something male that is just over 5' 6". I'm guessing taller drivers don't have a problem.

Anyone else have this issue and found a solution?

Ironically, I usually have the opposite problem. Since I'm 6'3", I need to tilt the front up to get any sort of thigh support. I had a similar problem in one of my previous vehicles. Then I realized that it wasn't just the tilt of the seat but also the height and the seat back angle.

None of this might help, but if you're feeling like it's not flat enough, try raising the height, moving the seat farther forward (and move the wheel in), and putting the seat back more upright.

Not that exact issue, but it did take me quite a while to get the seat 'just right' in the Gray Ghost. I fiddled with the controls until my wife was about to kill me. Every time I drove, it was a nudge here, a nudge there, with a quick seat memory save. I haven't messed with it the last couple of drives, so it looks like I finally have it dialed in. All I can say is thank goodness for seat memory! It has saved my marriage :D

Welcome to the boards, motionmanjim! I see you already got a few ideas on how to get comfy in your ride. Become a “pro seat adjuster” by studying the section called “Adjusting the front power seat (if equipped)” starting on page 156 of the 2012MY Explorer Owner Guide 2nd Printing.

I’m confident you’ll get some more takers in the community with tips. :)

tiresmoke & VinceL,

Thanks for helping out, guys; this is the beauty of having adjustable seats… You can mess with them to your heart’s content! :D

There’s no “OCD” badge, so proudly wear the “Tech Geek” badge ;):
