Quick Question?

My wife who is a foot shorter than me frequently moves the electric seat in our 1997 Mountaineer up when she drives. When I got into the car today, the seat was dead. No movement using the little joystick, no response to the buttons or lumbar inflate. Really strange as everything else in the car works. Would the seat motor make everything go dead? Could it be a fuse, seperated connection? Its got full power leather seats.

Any ideas, help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated, as one I feel like an old lady driving and two, I've heard its about $600-1200 for a new seat motor.

Probably just a blown fuse. Not sure of the location but it's in your manual.

i had the plug behind my seat come apart. lost all power...worth a look.

ditto...plug or fuse. Not motor they will run forever, never heard of a seat motor caffing.

I cant seem to find my owners manual, and the local BArnes and Noble is out of the Chilton's guides. However, i have abox full of fuses? Does anyone have an idea which fuse and where (underhood/dash box) it may be?

in the time it took you to type your last post you could have looked at and pull each and every fuse, but if still you are too lazy to look at your own fuses, i an sure we can have someone stop by your house later to check for you, lets say between 9 am -1pm if that is a good time just let us know>

i think that mine for the seats are under the hood if that helps

My seat motor started with this last year. Breakers yards I checked with just don't seem to have or maybe just don't want to sell them. I priced a new seat assembly (The motor is not a separate item.) and it costs around $400. Hope it's only a fuse!
