I have a 1997 Explorer XLT, completely stock, with the 5.0 engine.

I have recently noticed that the chime goes off anytime my driver's side door is open and the truck is off. This is with all lights off and no key in the ignition. It also only does it with the drivers door, not any of the others or the liftgate. Is this normal? I'm not thinking so, but my girlfriend says she thinks it is. If I put the key in and turn it to ON, but not crank it, the battery light comes on, but I checked it with a multimeter today, and it's got over 12 volts across it, plus it's pretty much brand new.

Am I just being hyper-sensitive to something I've never noticed before? If not, what should I check out here?

with the key out and door open it shouldnt chime. with it in and door open, it will. If it chimes and no key is in the ignition, i dont think it will hurt anything if you dont mess with it.

My old Mystique used to do that and it was b/c you could pull the key out of the ignition without the ignition being completely in the 'off' position.
