My front driver's side window doesnt move (up or down) very easily. The motor still works fine, but the window acts like something is restricting it. I have plans to remove the door panel when i have the time to take a look. Prior to doing so, I thought I'd post this to get some feedback on what the problem might be if anyone else has experienced this situation. Thanks!

well, odds are the motor is getting pretty wipped.

Try loading down the regulator with grease.
and some clear lube on the tracks

Thanks Monmix, i think i'll do that to all my windows to help em out a bit.

Window is slipping

I reread my post and noticed it didnt entirely address my problem :banghead:. I think the reason the window wont move is because it is slipping. When I push the button to move it either up or down, the motor works but the window stays in place. The window only moves a little bit at a time, and I have to help a lot. The window doesnt seem to catch a hold of whatever mechanism moves the window. (Im unfamiliar with the different parts of the automatic window system.) Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

go to general explorations and do a search under power windows and you will find many posts on the gears in the power window motor going bad. there is also a link to another website with pics and the complete "how to" to make your own nylon gears for approx $2.00 per window. that is how I fixed mine

it is time consuming to do but cheap also they list a south fla company that sells the gears for around $15.00 a set (may be more )
good luck

p.s. there is a hidden bolt in the front door that has to be drilled out to remove the motor assmbly

Here is the link to fix your windows. Cut and paste it in your browser to go to it or click on it

good luck

My wifes X had a similar problem when we bought it, I dissasembled the door and found that one of the rubber 'tracks' had completely left the metal retainer track. this caused the window to tilt slightly until it jammed. I was able to replace the rubber with the window in teh up position and glue it back in place. knock on wood, that was six months ago.

hey check this out...my window had a similar problem, all i did was tighten the bolt on the front part of the window track tall bar in front of door...havent had the problem in 2 years. i think the wondow was sticking in the track...its the track for front part of window, a bar that looks lke it's standing up

I pulled out the window motor and looked inside. The rollers were shot. Plastic bits were spread around and packed into the little spaces on the gear. Cleaned out the plastic and made some rollers (cut down to .465") out of some nylon rod that cost $1.00 at a local hardware store. Works good as new! Now I just have to fabricate a watershield out of some 6mil plastic I bought. Thanks 'FIRE and ICE' for the link, and to everyone else who chimed in. Hope this helps anyone else in the future who needs to fix there window. There's also a couple of good threads with some pics on how to remove the window motor.
