Hearing a droneing noise that pulsates around 2000 rpm and is more noticeable towing a lite weight boat.
Also noticeable in third at same rpm.
Any ideas.
02 ford explorer V 6 4x4 auto with 3.55 gears, or the next lower than the tow package gearing.
Lousy transmission. Already had it reflashed due to slippage between second to third and third to fourth.
Help wouldbe appreciated.

As it occurs at the same rpm its probably not trannie related. Could be exhaust try under load and stationary. See if you can tell where the noise comes from e.g. under hood or floor. Check any codes? As its under warranty take it back!

Yup, does sound like an exhaust drone. It's normal for your exhaust to have a certain RPM where it makes the most noise, and this will be more evident under load. 1700-2200 RPM is usually the range for these motors as to where they develop that sound.
