i accidently dropped my rotor today. :thumbdwn: when i picked i up i found that the abs sensor wheel broke in half and fell off. how serious is that? for now i just put it back on and stuck it in there. (there was only one clean break it in, seemed to grip back on ok-ish)

Why wouldn't you get a new rotor? Aside from what it may do to the system, If the rest of the rotor has microscopic cracks that you just don't see end up fragmenting on the road you could be in a world of hurt yourself, in addition it could take out parts that will cost much more than a new rotor.

hm thats a solution for sure. i was hoping to avoid that because my rotors were expensive.

With the abs sensor gone, it's probably just going to cause an error code. But, Like Joe Dirt was saying. You could have caused more damage than what you can see. True, Rotors aren't cheap. So you are gambling with either just replacing a rotor, or replacing a rotor and whatever could be damaged in the event the rotor comes apart. Which may or may not happen. Just ask yourself, Do you feel lucky?

How much did you possibly pay for rotors? and did you get them at a local store or online (warranty)

Cuz I know if you bought them at O'Reilly, we would warranty it out for you, just be honest, i dropped it and the ring broke off, if they give you crap ask for a manager and threaten corporate, (you don't actually have to call corporate, the manager will end up warrantying it)

We carry some nice brake pad and rotor kits, if you ended up damaging the one you have. Here's a link to them on our website.

i was hoping to avoid buying new ones because i bought some slotted ebc rotors from their online store.. i think it was close to a hundred for each one. this is my daily driver so i cant afford to have it down for the time it takes me to ship them my rotor and have another sent out (if they would even do that). i was hoping to put some jb weld on the abs ring to keep it in place.

well for now im going to leave the broken abs sensor cog off. mainly because i just finished putting all the parts back together and forgot about it... well i was driving with it broken for a few months so i definitely know it wasnt doing anything positive in there.
