Dropping a V8 into a 2000 Explorer Sport

Hello. I'm driving a 2000 Explorer Sport, and I read somewhere that Sports are not built with a V8, but the V6 just doesn't have enough power, and I was wondering if it is even possible to drop a V8 from a regular Explorer into a Sport. And if it is even worth it, and how many extra mods. are required or just probably should be done while I'm doing it. Also, if anyone has done it, how much did it run them.
