Dual Battery

Why not? You like your headlights to dim to the beat? :D ;)

1. I'm not the op.
2 I do not have a headlight dimming problem.

I am running close to 1500 watts (rms) on a 7 yr old battery and a remanned alt that is stock spec..

I have no headlight dimming issue and I have a dash mounted volt meter and NEVER have dipped below 14 volts...

If I had the money I would get a high output alt, and then 2 nice batteries... not a capacitor. Your free to have your opinions and im free to have mine..
capacitors are a hot issue in the car audio world.. your either for them or against them.. kinda like politics, no one is truly "right" just different views..

Haha, I wasn't meaning to start something...just a bit of teasing. I had one because my needed high demand output was only a little higher than what my alternator could supply, so it made sense (at least when my car audio-minded friend explained it). Sorry if I upset ya. I went out an read some articles on caps and you are right - lots of contention both ways. I don't know who to trust now! :P

See i dont have any experience with a cap so im undecided as whetther they work or dont if i had a choice though i would do alt and battery

to my understanding a cap is basically like a small battery that stores power and then releases when needed so when your bass is not on very loud it keeps drawing from the battery
and then when you crank your music and the bass really hits it discharges its stored power to the amp to be able to play..
my problem with it is it always draws power from your bat.. a lot of power.. so a huge strain on your alt...
lastly your amp wants to see constant power, and above 12.6 volts... so when your cap is low and "recharging" it drastically cuts down on the power your amp sees.. down to say maybe 10 volts.. amps do not like playing that low.. many amps will cut out or go in "limp mode" and start to fail.. especially if played for that long...
