Dual Exhaust On '93??

I have done a search on this, and I can't seem to find the answer. I wanted to see if I could get dual exhaust out of the muffler on my '93. Does anybody make something like this?? If so, how much $$?? Thanks-

If my memory is still working correctly, I belive Flowmaster offers a kit that has a dual outlet muffler and tailpipes.

I don't believe that flowmaster has a dual exhaust. I have gone to their website and all it shows is that they have the single outlets. Any other companies that anyone knows of?? Thanks-

It was my understanding that no one makes a dual exhaust setup for the Explorer, because it is only a V6 and putting a dual exhaust sytem on is rather hard because of the spare tire in the rear. I just bought a flowmaster muffler and had an exhaust shop fab a system for me. Mine is side exit, but it would be the same situation. That is what I suggest you do if you're looking for dual exhaust. A simple dual setup rear exit should run you around $200. Get a single inlet/dual outlet muffler from Flowmaster and have a shop bend pipes for it.

Ok, so you just bought a flowmaster dual exhaust and had an exhaust shop fab it for you? Which flowmaster did you buy?? Was it $200 for everything, or for the install?? How do you like it?? Thanks-

I bought a Flowmaster 40 Series delta flow (Quieter than regular 40 series) muffler, for about $65, and then had an exhaust shop make my system around it. My system is different from most, so this install price won't be what you'll be quoted at most likely, but I've heard a lot of people say their dual systems cost them around $200 for install when the shop bought the muffler. For mine, a friend and I cut out a piece of that plastic that runs along the bottom of the early explorers, a few inches in front of my passenger side rear wheel. Then I had the shop put on the muffler, they had to move it closer to the cat to get it to fit the way I wanted and they welded on some SS tips and some new hangers. They charged me $110. A friend recommended that I go there, so I mentioned him and they knocked some off of the price. Plus the pipes are only about 2 feet long each. I was going for a look like the F-150 Lightning exhaust, and it turned out well. I got it back to our house and my buddy later made me a skid plate to put on underneath the tips in case anything would hit them.

Nope, no pics. I'm up at school so all I have is my laptop, no scanner or anything like that. If I ever do get some pics online, I'll post them in the registry... I want to see what kind of response my mods to the truck will get from other board members.

I got a Flowmaster 70 series, which is their quietest single in dual out muffler. Still sounds good though, nice rumble at idle and starting out, cant hear it at cruiseing speeds. Muffler & heat shield $130. . Installation at muffler shop $100. Pipes come out the rear on each side under the bumper.

Check out the Flowmaster web site. They have the deminsions for the mufflers on there or they will give them to you. Seems like there should be room under there.

Yeah, I have checked and all they have are the single outlets, no duals for the early model explorer.

Give them (Flowmaster) a call . They make dual outlet mufflers in the 40, 50 & 70 series, I think..
On their wed site are the deminensions for the different mufflers and I think most all will fit under your X. Just to be sure measure your present muffler &/or see how much extra room you have.

I have duals on my 91 w/ a flowmaster 40 series (not delta flow). It has a real nice rumble at idle and then it sounds great around 2500-3000 rmp's. I had the exhaust shop set up w/ 3 1/2" chrome tips. I don't have a spare on though. Click here to see my set up, on my website, Dead Link Removed

Hmmm, the muffler i got from proexhaustwolesale.com for like 65, but they went out of business. You can find them for around 75 else where on the net. I believe I paid 250 for the install w/ tips. I want to say 180, and then 280 but I am not 100% sure, so I am going with 250. Everywhere else was like 300+ around here. Hope this helps,

Remember how Kyle got the exhuast on his redone at the muffler place? The guy their knew a lot and could probably rig it up for you for a bit over 200 bone. It is gonna be a lot easier to do if you decide to carry the spare on top or on back. Hows about we check it out on saturday afternoon cuz I'm probably gonna spend my tax return on performance instead of lift because of the road trip my bros are going on in June. See you later bro. Sportin' duals

I just got duals on my 98 Sport and love them. I put my spare in the back with my subs. I got a Flowmaster muffler,custom bent pipes,hangers and 3.5" chromed tips installed for $154. It looks and sounds great. Now i need a descent looking spare carrier. Any ideas?
