dumb noob question

hey guys, thanks for taking the time to read this. i recently purchased a 97 xlt. i put in a aftermarket head unit before i knew about the mach system and all...i want to upgrade my speakers specifically the bass.....i dont have a sub in back and dont want to spend alot on it....i can get a factory for 89 dollars.....whats your take on this.....it will be hooked to the aftermarket hu. i also may change the woofewr to a larger 8" aftermarket and hook up to a different amp, i just want to save as much space and have it look factory. i have kids so all their crap in back i dont want a large box or protrusion or expensive stuff for it to get hit when my hu was installed would it have been hooked up to a factory amp?....im asking cause i didnt install it free with the deck. ive seen pics f some expl. on here that appear to have a amp even though no sub in back..anywya any infor you have is appreciated.....oh and what size speakers fit in the doors.....i dont want to cut metal or door panel.

The door speakers are 5x7's. You can also fit 6x8's (the mounting holes are the same).

As far as the factory sub, you won't be able to fit if you have the pocket on the passenger side. You would have to take that out and get the grille cover for it or make one. I personally wouldn't waist the money on it. I'd get a 150-300 watt amp and a single 10" in a small sealed box. You wouldn't lose that much space.
