I have an older JVC 12 disc changer in the back and want to upgrade the changer. Do I also have to upgrade the head unit as well? Is there a (JVC) converter or adapter that can allow me to use existing head unit? Thanks...

Usually harnesses stay the same within a brand. The only way to know for sure is to talk to JVC, but I assume a JVC changer is a JVC changer.
