easy question

my auto hubs are working so so ( a thump) when engaging at 30 mph or so from the drivers side wheel. Since they still work I will keep them till I need the Warners...question...when reversing to disengage, how will I know the hubs have indeed disengaged. By feel,sound...smell has anyone got an answer to this question????

When driving at I'd say 35+mph, you can sense if they're engaged or not by feedback through the steering wheel and a little more noise.
