Well, like others (I checked the searches) I've been struggling with a passenger window that will go down but not up. After taking the door trim off and playing around with the switches and a test meter, I determined that the Yellow and Red (stripe) lead at the front passenger door was not energized with +12VDC.
All other leads test out OK, including those from the main console control.
Anyway, what I think is an easy way to diagnose the power window motor is to simply pry away the trim from the bottom of the door, but do not remove it. Unplug the light at the corner of the door - if so equipped.
Then about 1/3rd back from the front of the door, up about 4", you will find the wiring harness. Look for a flat 2-pole plug with separate Red and Yellow solid-color leads. This is the lead to the power window motor.
I just cut the door lamp off, leaving the 12VDC lead longer (so I knew which one it was) then put the +power into the Yellow motor socket and the other bulb lead into the Red motor socket.
PRESTO ... the window went right up
!
So now I know the motor works OK. Off to track down why the Yellow and Red striped wire that feeds from the switch to that 2-pole motor connector isn't getting power, but that's for later. I know the switch is good and at least doing this trick I got the window closed so I can drive the Exp in the rain forecasted for tomorrow
!
Another tip for 4-door Exps ... the switch panel on the rear doors comes off in seconds
, you do NOT have to remove any trim, just the 2 screws securing the panel onto the door. Doing this I was able to determine that the switch on the front door was OK, as it operated the rear door correctly.
