'95 XLT
Alright, my truck is a gold color 1995 XLT. The interior is tan with tan cloth seats. I am currently in the process of adding the following:

2x 10" Sony Xplod p5 subs in a sealed box
1x sony 250watt rms mono amp
2x 5x7 sonys in the front doors (maybe rear doors later)
sony cdx-5700 mp3 deck

So I have audio covered pretty well, but I am looking at some other ways to "pimp out" my ride. After getting my sound gear I am on a somewhat tight budget, so I am looking for some relatively cheap mods to do to my car that would make it look nice, inside and out.

I will appreciate any recomendations, of any kind, but I request that with a recomendation you include a website that sells whatever the product is that you think would be cool to add. Things I am thinking about:

Dash gauge cover
New pedals
Headlight change
rims
seat covers?

any help with these initial ideas would be GREAT too!!!!

thanks fellas, if i "take the plunge" sometime here I will upload some initial pics for yall to see, thanks again

its all about the little things
paint your ford emblems...this always look pimp
remove pinstripes if you have them
maybe tint your tail lights and posssibly third brake light

how do you tink the lights?

what kind of paint would you use on the emblems?

also, if I was going to paint part of the trim (i.e. the black plastic around the radio) a different color, how would that work and what sort of paint could i use?

go to truckperformance.com it has a bunch of products for explorers

ebay

Any Examples!?!

I've got the exact same question: How to pimp out my 93 explorer.

Does anyone have pictures (examples) of explorers with these mods?
ie: removing the pin striping, painting the emblem, headlight change, etc?
Any instructions on how to do it right?

Any help is greatly appreciated.

i removed my pin stripe yestrerday and nobody i asked could really tell a difference!. i would like to try a center console mod or sumthing, i dont know how i would make one though

Any pictures of the result?

Got any pictures of your ex with the pin stripe removed?
Did you have to fill in any holes - that held the pin stripe in?

Thanks,
PJ

The hair dryer and fingernails are the easiest way to get the old stripe off IMO. There were no holes or ridges let by it's removal, with the exception of wax buildup, which polishes right off.

Here's a few ideas for your dash.

Neons really aren't my thing, but since they were free to me, I gave 'em a shot, and don't look half bad alongside the gauges (I blew the left side out "racing", hit a bump or something). Tons of people have painted their emblems, I'd do a search on those. To paint anything in your dash, simply pull it out, clean, prime, sand with 800-1000grit, use a paint that will stick to plastic interior pieces (such as Dupli-Color) and give it a few light coats and seal it. By far one of the easiest things to do.

on a 1st gen....

adding the lower valance off of a 93-97 ranger is a nice touch. gives the lower edge a nice rounded look compared to the explorer air dam.

or at least i like it on mine.....

its a pretty easy install and it gives you a nice spot to add some aux lights that don't look like they were just slapped on there.

in that pic you can also see: no pin strip, no body molding on the doors, hood protector, nerf/side bars and a newer gen. set of wheels

Re: Hair dryer to remove pin strip

First off - thanks for the picture!

Was your pin stripe a "sticker" I have a thick plastic "pin stripe" on my 93 explorer sport. I'm not sure how easy it is to take off...

Thanks,
PJ

Thanks again and great ideas!

Thanks also for the pictures! That valance is a great improvement.
Did you get it new or from a wrecker or something?
Nice pedals!
Are those new gauges?

SRy for all the questions, but I'm 'new' to trying to improve my 93 exp sport and I'm deperate for ideas!!

Thanks again,
PJ

i got the valance new from an online supplier (~$35-$40 + S&H). I have heard they aren't terribly expenseive thru the dealer though, so you could check there.

and a wrecker is always another option as you mentioned

Are there any holes to fill from removing the sides mouldings? Is it just glued or two sided taped on? I don't see any holes in urs, but I figured you might have fixed them or I can't see them. Thanks.

Excellent...

Thanks for the info! I'm going to look for the valance today!
Was there any instructions with the valance on how to do the wiring?

Thanks,
PJ

the side molding is pretty much just heavy duty double sided tape. It will take a good cleaning under it cause there will be some dirt build up that made its way in there.

The tupperware at the bottom on the rockers will have 2 holes in the fender behind them (1st gen & ?). I didn't have the tupperware but bought some replacement fenders that had the holes there. I just welded them up, smoothed it out, and painted.

the valance is just the plastic piece. You can buy the stock fogs for the ranger (more money) and make them fit but i just bought some aftermarket ones, made up some brackets and mounted them down there. Wiring instructions would come with the lights. The hole opening is right about 5.5". I bought some cheapies but i think Procomp makes a 5" round light that would fit nicely in there. Check with 4wheelparts for the lights as i have seen them in their store before.

you can also search for tips on running wires for the lights, there are a bunch of threads in the performance lighting section.

later

Where can I get lower Valances??? in Canada!!!

OK,
I'm having some 'issues's here in the great white north.
I'm having difficulty finding suppliers of lower valances (where I could insert some fog lights) for a 93 sport.

I tried van & truck world, but was told they don't have anything for my year of vehicle.

Does anyone know where of a place with valances that would fit a 93 exp sport? -- an maybe more than one type of valance????

Any help would be appreciated.
