I'm starting to begin that the Engine Gas Recirculation system in my car has a mind of its own.

Story line :

Year ago : CEL- Engine Gas Recirculation flow insufficient
--Replaced EGR Valve , still CEL
--Replaced EGR Sensor, no more CEL

3 weeks ago : CEL- Engine Gas Recirculation flow insufficient
--Replaced Sensor, no more CEL

Today : CEL - Engine Gas Recirculation flow EXCESSIVE!
-- put head to steering wheel and cried.

Theirs no reason for the sensor to be going bad twice, is there something else that could be wrong with the EGR system that is causing these readings to be going crazy like this?

Is it possible its the solenoid? its the only thing that hasn't been changed.

What ever i change, ill do a write up for all three components for the site so everyone else can see how.

Thanks

Sounds like we're in the same boat!! Except mine idles rough after it warms up. The CEL light comes and goes......I've replaced the EGR valve, EGR valve inlet tube (it was on the verge of breaking when I removed the valve) and then the sensor. I had to mail order the inlet tube from a Ford Dealership and was hoping that was my problem. The CEL light hasn't come back on yet, but it still idles terrible when it warms up. I think I'll just replace the solenoid (Autozone has them for $34) It's the only thing left in the system!!

Good Luck!!
