I've got a 94 Exp and it has been running pretty crappy lately. I have read a lot of posts but I'm trying to narrow my problems down a little with your guy's help.

A year or so ago my check engine light came on around the same time I blew a EGR DPFE hose. I replaced the hose, had the code read, and it was the press sensor so I replaced it. Everything ran fine for a year or so. Then the check engine light came on again and I had it read and it turned out the be the EGR press sensor again. Since the truck was still running nice and smooth I wasn't in any hurry to replace it. A couple months later I noticed that I blew a cap off what looks to be a vacuum press port on the top of the engine, so I replaced it and it ran fine. Then I noticed that it took a little longer than normal to start the truck when it has been sitting over night. Also, there has developed a wet/dark area around the vacuum port (looks like it is leaking). Now it is to the point where I have to hold the starter cranking for a second or two and if I let go before the truck is fully started, all 5 or 6 of the vacuum hoses will blow off there repective ports. Now, when I am at very low idle situations the truck will shake and vibrate but never die. I also get occasional large puffs of smoke out of the exhaust upon acceleration. It seems to run sluggish and overall shotty. I finally replaced the EGR press sensor again and the CEL went away again but the truck still runs terrible. It sounds like it could be the EGR valve, but why am I getting such a positive press sometime in the vacuum? All the hoses look fine. Thanks for all your guys help.

Assuming you have an automatic transmission, you have the classic symptoms of a bad transmisson vacuum modulator. Do a search on replacing vacuum modulator for a wealth of information.

Good luck and ask questions!

I'll look into that, thanks. Could that also be the reason that I am leaking transmission fluid like crazy? About a quart a week.

Let me rephrase that, trann fluid is dissapering like crazy, I can't find a leak.
