My CEL came on this past weekend, so I purchased a code scanner to read the error. Error 332 - Scanner book says "Insufficient EGR flow detected." My Haynes book says "EGR Valve opening not detected" . I purchased a new EGR valve last night, made sure everything was clean before installing the new one. Then I erased the CEL codes.

This morning I 'm driving to work and the CEL comes on again, I just scanned the codes again with same error. Any suggestions on what I could try next?

Also, I cleaned the MAS about 3 mmonths ago and reset the computer, and it has been and is running the best it has ever run. Actually, got 20/gal on this past roadtrip, which is the highest it has ever been.

Thanks

It seems as I've followed others with EGR codes, the problem often seems to lie in the DPFE sensor associated with the EGR valve. try searching for DPFE sensor and you should find lots about it.

According to the haynes manual, I believe the DPFE applies to the 96 and later models. But I will start checking out other equipment that may be causing the error. Thanks

I have been going through the same thing with mine. Today I got rid of it!!:D Last week I got a friend to read the codes and came up with the same code332. He suggested replacing the EGR. It was a start. I replaced the EGR and sure enough, that light came on again. I did searches everywhere and they all pointed to the PFE(PFE on our 94's/DPFE on the 95+).So I went and bought one and also bought a new vacuum sensor. I put them both on today and the CEL has been put to rest ! My PFE was nasty looking inside and the hoses that connected to it weren't much better. I'm sure that was the main problem. The vacuum sensor was probably good. I recommend taking a look inside your PFE .

Tim, I called AutoZone and Advance Auto today to try and find the PFE. Can you give me more information on it? Different name? It location. According to the Haynes manual, thee whole system is called a PFE System, but I can't find a specific name unless is the Pressure Feedback Sensor. Where did you pick yours up at and would you have the part number? Thanks for your help.

I believe it's called the EGR VALVE PRESSURE SENSOR .They will have to order it for you. Give them your oem # off the front of the sensor. They want $70 for it. It'll take 2-3 days for them to get it. Or you can order it direct from there website. I went to the dealer and paid $121 because I didn't want to wait  I should have waited because it didn't affect anything, just that damn light. I've been staring at that thing for 4 months, and I just wanted it to be gone. Its located on the side with the egr. Look to the left of it and you will see a metal box about 4" long and about 3" high mounted on a black bracket. It's only about an inch thick. It has 2 vacuum hoses coming out the bottom and an a harness coming out the side.Hope this helps.

I just went through this with Tony Betten Ford in Grand Rapids MI. I tried tracking this down for a long time, finaly I took it to the dealer so they could put it on their scope. It was the DPFE sensor. The tech. told me that the DPFE sensors of old, lasted about 3 years or so(poor design). Ford has redesigned the sensor and should be on the parts shelve today. (SHOULD BE) I went through two of the old versions and now am running the new. I can't say thats your problem but its worth looking into.

Thanks Tim again on the tip about the PFE Sensor. Changed it out yesterday and the CEL has been off ever since.
