Has anyone taken there EGR off and cleaned it? Is it worth it? Maybe even worth just replacing it?

My Ex has about 120000 miles on it.

I am not totally educated on EGR valves in this application, but can't a dirty one negatively impact the operation of well.... any vehicle?

Thanks

The cheap one is under $30 on RockAuto, but unless you are throwing codes, I wouldn't do a thing. If it ain't broke, don't fix it. Just my two cents.

I wouldn't mess with it, they are largely reliable and trouble free.

If you don't have an egr related code then it's doing it's job.

Agreed- if you're not getting a code, don't mess with it...

^ill second that. but if it ever throws a code, there is a dpfe(or something like that) sensor that is the main cause for the code most of the time. to check it, unplug it and shake it on your hand. if water comes out of the sensor its bad. if not its still good. i would show you a picture but i dont have any handy to show you. maybe someone could chime in on it. i replaced my egr valve first, never cleared the code, so i tried the sensor about a year ago and has worked ever since.
