'96 XLT V6 ---- Anybody know what the thin, green, plastic tube that connects to the top EGR valve is called? When replacing the DPFE sensor hoses i broke this hose, AND, when trying to disconnect it from the sensor (EGR solonoid?) that it ties into (along with a red hose from the upper intake), i snapped the thin, red, plastic tube too! I called Ford but they didn't understand what it was and i don't feel like driving 20 minutes to the nearest dealer to show them, especially if it's not normally in stock. Within this "harness" is a white tube as well. If it's an expensive piece at Ford, which i certainly expect it to be, can i use something else? Any & all help is appreciated!

Thanks Jefe...any idea if these would be available anywhere other than Ford?

Those 2 are a part of a much larger wire/vacuum line harness and can not be purchased separately. I broke the green one once and tried to get it from dealer to no avail. I bought a piece of hi temp tubing of the same diameter from auto parts store and just reused the rubber fittings. I seems to be working fine. Like I said I broke only the green one and I don't know where the red one is going.

Hope this helps

Thanks 95 - How did u get the hose to connect with the Rubber connector? Connecting to the EGR Valve is an easy Male/Female setup, but the rubber would be Female/Female. Did u use some type of small plastic connector?...or a piece of the original tubing? Does the inner diameter matter?

The red one attaches from the solonoid to the upper manifold, right side. There's also a white tube within the harness that i haven't broken yet, but that goes behind the engine - not sure where.

I think the stock setup on a 95 and 96 are the same and it is as follows:
EGR plastic solenoid - double rubber plug female with 2 hard plastic tubes going in (male)
EGR valve - rubber connector (female/female) connecting male plug on EGR body with male hard plastic tube

The hi temp tubing I bought is a similar to stock plastic tubing (has some flex) and it has the same o/s diameter as stock green tubing. I simply inserted it into rubber connectors on EGR solenoid and EGR body. It fits very snug, so I don't think there's anything to worry about.

Hope this clears it up

Well, the vacuum lines into the solonoid were reversed since i bought the truck. Vacuum system is runnin' fine now. Now, after the fuel pump install yesterday (OUCH), and the Flowmaster 50 goin' in this weekend, we'll see if ANY of the $$$$$$$ invested into this beast help my lowly 10-11mpg...Thanks for all of your help
