www.fordfuelinjection.com is a great place to learn about it.

There are several parts to the EGR system on your 5.0L
What part is bad?

I assume you are getting a code?

I'm trying to get my truck runing as good as possible please help me out....

Argh....

I just typed a response to your post, about 500 words in something went screwy.... I will have to respond again later, it dissapeared and I lost it.

First off I am no great mechanic, the EGR system is fairly new to me but I think I can help...Thanks though I am actually mostly here to learn and give back what I have received..

I will tell you to go here:
Dead Link Removed

and lookup your code (excessive flow)
More on that later....

Get a vaccum hand pump like this:

And then find the EGR Valve and hook the line up to your pump. With the motor running at operating temperature (190-210) pump vaccum on the valve. It shouldn't die off, should stay running. Now, take off the pressure and disconnect your IAC motor. Then pump on the valve again. If it dies off, you need a new DPFE sensor. these sensors go out a lot in Taurus', Sable's, and E-series vans.... it's a good place to look.
